FAQs

1. I want to remodel a part of my house — where should I start?

The first step to any redesign is figuring out exactly what areas you want to redesign and how much you want to spend. Pinterest is a great place to look for inspiration, and you can even look through our CK&B Pinterest boards to see looks that we like and recommend! Houzz is another great resource for ideas, in fact, you can browse photographs and projects and create your own ideabooks to share with your designer. Be ready to describe your style to our designers when we meet in our showroom or come to your house for the initial site visit — we really value your input and will work with you to create designs that work well for your space and fit into your budget.

2. What kinds of projects can CK&B help me with?

Bring us your vision and we’ll turn it into reality. Whether you’re looking to add a few details and spice up your style or completely overhaul an area of your home, our expert designers and technicians will see your project through from design conception to project completion. We do redesign/remodels on:

  • Kitchens
  • Bathrooms
  • Master suites and bedrooms
  • Custom closets
  • Mudrooms
  • Laundry rooms
  • Bars and entertaining areas
  • Garages
  • Outdoor kitchens
  • Commercial spaces and more!

3. What happens during the initial consultation and how much will it cost?

Once you express interest in working with CK&B either by phone, email, or visiting our showroom, one of our designers will visit your home for approximately two hours to scope out and discuss your vision for the space. The designer has a two-week timeline to plan and sketch your space, and will then contact you to go over the sketch and provide an estimate. The initial visit costs $100, which will be used as a credit toward your final bill.

4. How does the design process work?

After the initial site visit, the designer has a two-week timeline to plan and sketch your space, and will then contact you to go over the sketch and provide an estimate. If you agree to their initial sketch with no changes, you and the designer will begin picking out pieces, create a schedule, and your project will start! Should you decide to keep your sketch and go a different direction without CK&B at this point, the $100 site visit fee will cover the cost of your sketch.

If you want to add more detail or request changes to your sketch, there is an $800 design retainer that will be used as a credit toward your final bill. Should you decide to go a different direction without CK&B after this point, the $800 design retainer covers the cost of our work thus far.

Once you are happy with the design, you and our designer will begin picking out pieces, create a schedule, and your project will start! You can learn more about every step of the design process with this infographic.

5. How long will the entire project take?

It depends on the size of the project, and we will work with you to create a convenient project timeline and keep you updated on the status every step of the way. After the preliminary design process is complete, installation of small projects (updating countertops, swapping out a vanity, adding new light fixtures to a room, etc.) generally take less than a week. Installation of larger projects (a complete redesign of your kitchen, bathroom, master suite or bedroom, laundry room, basement area, etc.) generally take 1–3 weeks to complete.

6. How much should I expect to spend overall?

Every project is different, and the cost of yours is up to you. We will go over your budget with you and help you decide the best course of action and products for what you can afford. We guarantee that we’ll be able to upgrade your space into something beautiful, whether you choose to spend a lot or a little!

7. Does CK&B work with homeowners or contractors?

We work with both homeowners (retail customers) looking to remodel their house, and builders working on single houses and entire neighborhoods. We also provide our services for commercial spaces. Check out our infographic to learn more about the design process.

8. Do I need to find plumbers, electricians, carpenter, etc. or will CK&B find contractors to work with?

We have a trusted list of licensed contractors that we regularly work with and can use to complete your project. We are also happy to work with your contractors if that is preferred.

9. Do I need to be home while the work is being done?

You will need to be present during the initial home visit/consultation and available to give your input on our designs, but after that, you can leave the work up to us. Our designers and staff will oversee and supervise the entire project so you feel comfortable going to work, running errands, and going about your daily life while the installation is being done. If any issues arise while you’re away, we will contact you promptly to discuss the problem and get your permission to solve it accordingly. You are welcome to be present during the installation, but there’s no need to worry — we’ll take care of the hard work so you can come home to the house of your dreams!
